◆ 국문초록

북한철학계에서 조선철학 연구는 다른 철학사상에 비해 이데올로기적 연구로부터 상대적으로 비껴나 있으면서도 가장 중요하게 다뤄졌던 연구 분야였다. 이때 북한 조선철학사 연구 중에서도 동학.천도교는 중요한 방법론적 경로를 제공한다. 동학ㆍ천도교가 한반도에서 발생한 독특한 철학사상이라는 점, 일제강점기를 거쳐 분단 이후에도 남북 모두에서 여전히 전승ㆍ유지되고 있는 민족종교라는 점, 동학ㆍ천도교에 대한 연구가 남북에서 현재까지 진행・축적되어 왔다는 점은 북한 철학연구의 응축된 한 장면을 검토할 수 있게 해주는 것을 넘어, 향후 남북 철학의 공동연구를 위한 중요한 기반이 될 수 있기 때문이다. 이에 따라 이 논문의 목적은 북한 조선철학사 연구에 있어서 ‘조선근대철학의 시작과 종결’로 규정되는 동학.천도교의 의미와 위상을 살펴보는 것이었다. 이를 위해 이 논문은 북한 조선철학사 서술의 방법론적 강령과 그에 따른 동학.천도교의 위치를 확인했다. 나아가 동학.천도교에 대한 ‘조선근대철학의 시작과 종결’이라는 은유가 어떻게 기획되었으며 이에 따라 구체적으로 어떤 내용과 논리들이 보충되거나 반대로 소거되는지를 추적했다. 끝으로 남북 철학연구의 공존을 위한 방안들을 시론적으로 제시했다.

◆ Abstract

In the field of North Korean philosophy, the study of Joseon philosophy was the most important research field, while being relatively isolated from ideological studies compared to other philosophical ideologies. At this time, Donghak and Cheondogyo provided an important methodological path among the studies of the history of Joseon philosophy in North Korea. The fact that Donghak and Cheondogyo are unique philosophical ideas that occurred on the Korean Peninsula, that they are national religions that have been handed down and maintained in both North and South Korea even after the division through Japanese colonial era, and that Donghak and Cheondogyo studies have been conducted and accumulated in both Koreas to the present day, beyond being able to examine a condensed scene of North Korean philosophy research, it can serve as an important foundation for joint research on inter-Korean philosophy in the future. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper was to examine the meaning and status of Donghak and Cheondogyo, which are defined as the “start and end of modern Joseon philosophy” in the study of the history of Joseon philosophy in North Korea. To this end, this paper confirmed the methodological code of the description of the history of Joseon philosophy and the location of Donghak and Cheondogyo accordingly. Furthermore, it tracked how the metaphor of “the beginning and end of modern Joseon philosophy” was planned for Donghak and Cheondogyo, and what specific contents and logics were supplemented or eliminated accordingly. Finally, poetic measures for the coexistence of inter-Korean philosophical research were presented.
