◆ 국문초록

춘향 이야기는 분단 전부터 오랫동안 남과 북 사회에서 인정하는 대표적 ‘고전’이다. 코리언들은 춘향이라는 고전 인물에 애정과 욕망, 그리고 미래에 대한 희망을 부여하며 사랑했다. 그리고 시대와 공간에 따라 다양한 형상으로 재현‧담론화되면서 춘향 캐릭터도 재창조되었다. 이 연구는 분단이전 식민지 시기와 분단이후 남과 북 사회에서 발표된 콘텐츠와 매체담론을 통해서 춘향의 의미화 방식이 어떻게 유지, 생성, 소멸되는지 살펴보았다. 춘향의 재현과 담론의 양상들은 춘향의 지조와 절개를 예찬하는 데에서 나아가, 자유연애사상부터 애정‧부부의 윤리, 여성해방운동, 남녀 젠더에 대한 역할기대의 문제들까지 ‘여성 젠더’에 대한 감정과 인지가 함께 결부되어 있었고, 각 시대의 젠더감수성을 대변하고 있었다.

◆ Abstract

The story of “Chunhyang” has long been recognized as a representative classic story in South and North Korean society since before the division. Koreans love classical figures with affection, desire, and hopes for the future. As these figures were reproduced and discussed in various forms according to time and space, the Chunhyang character was also recreated. This study examined how the significance of Chunhyang was maintained, created, and extinguished through methods of reproducing Chunhyang in South and North Korean society during the colonial period before and after the division, as well as through the discourse around it. The aspects of the reproducing and discourse of Chunhyang went beyond praising Chunhyang’s integrity and chastity, and were linked to emotions and perceptions of “female gender” from “free love” to the desirable image of women demanded by the times, ethics of love and couples, feminism, and gender sensitivity, representing the gender sensitivity of each era.
