□ 초록

그동안 남북한 출신 주민 간 소통에 관한 연구에서는 그들의 갈등 양상을분석하며 그 원인으로 남북한 주민들의 개인적‧집단적 특성을 주목했다. 연구자는 남북한 출신 주민들의 갈등이 주민들의 특성 뿐 아니라 그들이 처한 현실, 즉 위계가 있고 이해관계가 충돌하거나 경쟁이 지나친 구조와도 관련되어 있다는 사실에 주목하여, 남북한 출신 주민이 비교적 동등하게 만난 여행에서의 만남을 내러티브를 통해 분석하였다. 여행에서 참가자들은 제3의 공간에서 여가활동으로 비교적 평등하게 만났으며, 원활한 소통이 일어났다. 특히 역할 분담, 수혜자가 아닌 제공자의 경험 등은 북한 출신 청년들이 설 자리를 넓혀 소통에 기여했다.

반면 소통의 과정에서 트라우마나 우월의식, 상대를 대상화하는 호기심 등이 장애 요소로 등장했다. 그러나 자신을 성찰하고 상대를 지속적으로 알아가려는 태도를 통해 극복의 과정을 거쳤으며, 이 과정에서 인식이 실천되기까지 시행착오의 과정도 나타남을 확인하였다. 여행 이후 여행에서 긍정적인 소통을 했음에도 만남이 지속적으로 유지되는 경우가 적었는데 이는 현실적인 재정 문제 및 관계망을 대하는 문화적 차이와 연관되었다. 또한 공통의 취향이나 활동 등의 공통분모를 발견해 나아갔을 때 관계가 가장 지속으로 이어졌다.

 

□ Abstract

This paper intens to examine people from both South and North Koreas, focusing on the travel as a form of communication. This paper analyses the processes of discord and communication in three joint-travel. These three types of travel were similar but the ways of their communication were different.

The participants did not interact in the South or the North, but they did in the third place where they lived equally. The schedule of travel focused on the process, not on a goal, and there was equal role contribution to effective communication. Participants were not beneficiaries but were rather contributors to the joint-journey. This also contributed to effective communication. However, the tight budget, lack of consideration, and the excessive curiosity toward one another caused conflicts.

This project shows that an encounter of people from the two Koreas will cause a conflict when thorough plans and preparation are not provided in advance. Also, excessive competition and pressure from the South korean society should be eased first before the possible conflict between people from two Koreas occurs.
