□ 초록

 이글에서는 1960년대에 북한 전역을 대상으로 이루어진 민속조사 자료를 분석 대상으로 삼아 북한의 상장례 풍속의 변화를 살피고자 한다. 이를 통해 북한체제 상부에서 시달되는 사회주의 생활방식의 요구가 주민들 사이에서 어느 정도 수용되었는지도 살피고, 국내의 상황과의 비교를 통해 상장례에 담긴 정신문화의 소통 지점을 발견하고자 한다. 자료를 분석한 결과 1960년대 북한의 민속조사 자료에서 파악할 수 있는 상장례 풍속은 남한과 크게 다르지 않다.

 사회주의 국가 체제에서 전통 상장례의 폐해로 지목한 미신적 요소, 허례허식적인 요소들이 지속되고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 유교주의적인 영혼관에서 유래한 명정쓰기나 혼백을 내는 절차는 현대적 장치인 사진으로 대체가 되었지만 인간적인 정리와 고유의 영혼관, 내세관에서 기인한 초혼 의례나 사자상차리기, 반함, 인정드리기는 쉽게 사라지지 않고 있다. 이를 통해 우리 민족의 고유한 정신문화는 어떤 이데올로기보다 강력한 자장을 발휘하고 있음을 확인하게 된다. 북한 체제에서도 상장례 풍속 중 미풍양속으로 볼 수 있는 이웃 사람들의 음식 나누기나 밤 지새우기는 권장하는 입장이라는 것도 확인할 수 있다.

 이러한 미풍양속은 갈등 없이 계승되고 있다. 남북의 상장례 풍속 비교를 통해 전통적인 정신문화의 소통 지점을 밝혀냄으로써 비록 영토나 체제의 분단이 지속되어왔지만 인간의 내면-가치나 정서-적인 측면과 생활문화적인 측면에서는 우선적인 통합이 가능하다는 점을 제시해 본다.

□ Abstract

 The purpose of this study is to study change of funeral customs in North Korea. Also, to evaluate how much has progressed socialist way of life that North Korean government has forced residents. And through the comparison of South Korea, this study is intended to find the point of communication of spiritual culture in the funeral customs. The subject of this study is composed of folklore survey data which made in North Areas in the 1960s. The funeral customs can be captured in the folklore survey data of North Korea in the 1960s were not much different from South Korea.

 Even the socialist state system superstitious elements, elements of empty formalities and vanity pointed to the harmful effects of traditional funeral customs were being continued. Although the procedure originated from the perspective of confucianism soul was abandoned, customs originated from peculiar spiritual culture of South Korea did not disappear easily. Through this, I found that the peculiar spiritual culture of our nation exert a more powerful force than any ideology.

 By finding the point of communication of traditional spirit world through funeral customs of the North and South, although the division of the territory and the system has been continued, I can make sure that integration is possible in terms of human inner and life and culture.
