◆ 국문초록

이 연구의 목적은 김정은 시대 북한 공연예술의 창작 현황과 특성을 검토하는 데 있다. 김정일 시대 문학예술이 선전 선동의 핵심으로 주목받았다. 그러나 김정은 시대에서 문학예술은 극심한 침체를 겪고 있다. 공연예술만의 상황은 아니다. 영화에서도 2016년 예술영화 3편 창작 이후 6년 동안 신작이 단 한 편도 없었다. 문학예술 전 분야에서 신작 창작에서 극심한 부진을 면치 못한 상황이다. 공연예술에서 새로운 창작으로 소개한 작품은 단발성 공연을 제외하고는 경희극 <자랑>, 경희극 <향기>, 단막희곡 <출발점>, 경희극 <북부전역>, 가극 <영원한 승리자>, 연극 <멸사복무> 정도이다.

문화예술계의 부진 요인은 역할 변화 때문이다. 문화예술이 담당하였던 선전선동의 주체와 형식이 달라졌다. 선전선동의 주체는 예술인에서 노동당의 말단조직인 ‘세포’로 바뀌었다. 형식에서도 구체적인 숫자와 편집물을 이용한 실리적인 사업 방식으로 바뀌었다.

부족한 내용은 천리마시대의 작품과 화려한 볼거리로 채웠다. 주요 명절에 열리는 경축 공연은 초대형 전자스크린, 화려한 ‘불장식’과 레이저를 활용한 조명, 대형 건물을 활용한 미디어파사드, 드론을 활용한 첨단기술의 향연으로 진행하였다. 김정은 체제에서 강조한 과학기술의 성과를 공연에 반영한 결과이다. 북한 공연예술은 내용의 예술보다는 공연의 스펙터클 한 형식에 치중할 것으로 예상된다.

◆ Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the current status and characteristics of North Korean performing arts during the Kim Jong-un era. Literature and art during the Kim Jong-il era were noted as the core of propaganda agitation. However, in the Kim Jong-un era, literature and art are experiencing a severe downturn. It is not the only situation in performing arts. In the film, there was no new work in 6 years since the creation of 3 art films in 2016. It is a situation that is facing a severe slump in the creation of new works in all fields of literature and art. Except for single performances, the works introduced as new creations in the performing arts are the light comedy "Showdown", the light comedy "Scented", the short acting play "Starting Point", the light comedy "Northern Region", the eternal victor", and the play "Eternal Service".

The sluggish factor in the culture and arts world is due to role change. The subject and form of propaganda that culture and art were in charge of have changed. The subject of propaganda has changed from artists to 'cells', a terminal organization of the Labor Party. In the form, it has also changed to a practical business method using specific numbers and edits.

What was lacking was filled with works from the Chollima period and colorful attractions. The celebration performance held on major holidays was a feast of high-tech technologies using super-large electronic screens, colorful 'fire decorations' and laser lights, media facades using large buildings, and drones. This is the result of reflecting the achievements of science and technology emphasized by the Kim Jong-un regime in the performance. It is expected that North Korean performing arts will focus on a spectacular form of performance rather than content art.
