◆ 초록

이 글은 한국 현대 지성의 역사를 규정했던 내-외적인 조건들을 다루고 있다. 지성의 역사는 단순한 사상이나 개념, 관념들의 독자적 역사가 아니며 그것을 강제했던 사회-역사적 관계라는 물질적 장을 가지고 있다. 이 글에서는 한국 현대의 지성을 강제했던 식민과 분단으로 이어지는 역사를 탈식민화의 관점에서 다루고 있다.

이를 위해 이 글은 첫째, 과거 한국에 수용된 ‘민족주의’ 비판으로서 탈식민주의 논의들이 지닌 문제들을 비판적으로 검토한다. 둘째, 2차세계대전 이후, 제3세계에서의 탈식민이 냉전체제에 의해 미국적 서구중심주의로 재편되었음을 밝힌다. 이를 근거하여 셋째, 동서냉전으로 환원될 수 없는 동아시아 냉전체제의 특성과 분단-냉전체제 하에서의 탈식민주의 연구 방향을 제시한다.

그리하여 이 글은 한국 현대 지성사에 존재론적으로 주어진 조건이 동아시아 냉전체제와 분단체제 하에서 미국적 서구중심주의의 분단-냉전 문화를 생산했고, 이에 대한 충돌과 균열, 저항이 식민성 비판뿐만 아니라 식민지 지식인 자체에 대한 반성과 성찰을 이끌어왔다는 점을 제시하고 있다.

◆ Abstract

This article deals with the internal-external conditions that defined the history of Korean contemporary intellect. The history of intellect is not a simple independent history of ideas, concepts, or notions, but has a material field of socio-historical relationships that forced it. This article deals with the history of colonization and division that forced Korean contemporary intellect with the perspective of decolonization.

For this purpose, this article first critically examines the problems of postcolonialism as a critique of 'nationalism' accepted in Korea in the past. Second, it is revealed that after World War II, decolonization in the Third World was the American-style Eurocentrism reorganized by the Cold War system. Third, it presents the characteristics of the Cold War system in East Asia that cannot be reduced to the East-West Cold War, and proposes a study of postcolonialism under the division-Cold War system.

Thus, this article suggests that the ontologically given conditions in Korean contemporary intellectual history are the Cold War-Division culture of American-style Eurocentrism under the East Asian Cold War system and division system, and that the conflict, crack, and resistance to it led to not only the critique of Coloniality, but also reflection and introspection on the colonial intellectuals themselves.
